What is the Biblical foundation for global missions?
The Biblical foundation for our call to preach the Gospel to the nations comes from Jesus command in Matthew 28:19-20. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…” It is our responsibility as Christians to take the good news of the Gospel to the people who have never heard.
What does a team really do on a short-term mission trip?
We are there to serve the missionary of that particular area with whatever their ministry needs are. This could include things such as construction projects, servant evangelism, facilitating training sessions, and many others. We always pray that these trips are times of growth for the team as we serve selflessly.
What does the cost of the trip cover?
The cost of the trip includes travel expenses (plane fare), food (3 meals per day) and lodging while on the trip. It does not include personal spending money or food during travel.
Will I receive any training?
Yes, training meetings will be mandatory. For several weeks prior to the trip, we will be fasting and praying together and meeting to learn about what we’re hoping to accomplish on this particular trip.
Is it safe?
All HPC trips will be safe. There is always risk of illness due to food and water but these are common obstacles and easily avoidable. HPC will work to ensure safety on each trip.
Who makes the travel arrangements?
HPC will make all necessary travel arrangements for the team as a whole.
Do I have to be a member of HPC to apply for a trip?
Each trip will have different requirements that will be listed with that trip’s information. The 2007 trip schedule will be posted at the end of the summer. Requirements will include certain HPC classes such as Spiritual Formation, Roots (for minors), age requirements and some will have experience requirements as well. In addition to the basic requirements, each trip will also have an application.
Am I required to know the language of the country I’ll be traveling to?
No. We will have translators on each trip.
How do I raise the funds necessary for the trip?
Each person will be responsible for raising the funds needed. We recommend sponsorship letters and personal fundraisers.
